Meals

Hall

Our beautiful Hall, built in 1480, serves three meals a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner. The meals are on a pay-as-you-go basis, that means you can eat as much or as little in Hall during your time at Magdalen. Formal Halls also take place in Hall three times a week, costing between 7 and 10 pounds. On Sundays Hall does not offer breakfast or lunch, but fear not, our JCR catering team puts on brunch every Sunday.

Old Kitchen Bar (OKB)

The OKB is not just the place where the Entz team puts on the biweekly college bops (big organised party), but also a great place to grab a snack. The OKB serves lunch in form of paninins and baguettes plus a salad for 3-4pounds and you can even create your own paninis choosing from a variety of topics. Between the main meal hours the OKB also offers the infamous OKBizza (4pounds for a 12″ Margherita) which can be a lifesaver if you have missed the hall opening hours or don’t want to break the bank with Dominos.

The JCR Shop

It’s back again! Magdalen is one of the few (if not the only) College that has a shop operated by a team of volunteers that is opened from 6-9pm. It stocks all the necessities of student life, from shower utensiles, over pencils to Pringles. All items are sold at cost and thus often considerably cheaper than at Tesco or Sainsburys. As an added Bonus: the shop is located in St. Swithuns VI, really close to the library.
